Amy Strickland & John Lambert
Firstly, Happy Holidays!
Secondly, take note of our
new address above.
Thirdly, join me on a
little walking tour around Red Hook,
winter’s afternoon………
The
leftmost house is ours. As you can see
there is quite
a lot of open sky. Red Hook juts out from
and until recently, it was an active
cargo port. As such, the views are a
little
different than what you are used to ---à

Yep, that’s the Statue of Liberty as seen from the tarmac outside a
warehouse on the end of our street. Red Hook’s defiant statement on our
political situation. Then, there she is from the little park on
the waterfront.
That’s better.

That’s lower
link fence, razor wire, heaved pavement
and some trash. Beats me why so
many people want to live there, the
warning signs are clear.
There are warehouses and factories as you walk away from the water.

The main drag in Red Hook is
example of social consciousness and concern
for the environment.
You can probably read the big sign, but if not, it says:
CLEAN-UP
YOUR DOGS SH!T LITTLE DOGS ARE INCLUDED
The small tombstone shaped one, difficult to read from my photo says:
Here lies
the last dog that pooped on my tree

At least someone is in the Christmas spirit…. This is going to sound picky,
but I don’t think that reindeer and
spruce trees were prevalent in
And icicles on the manger?
Here’s a storefront that I find fascinating. What do you think goes on in
there?
I know what I think.
I’ve never seen the shutters open. Ever.
Let’s walk a ways east to a site that has a unique mix of natural
beauty and
engineering prowess. The
Expressway (fondly known as the BQE).

Now you don’t have to wonder where all the garbage goes. It’s on the right.
And if all this wasn’t enough, you can buy
your Christmas tree right there under the
BQE. It’s a gosh
darn wonderland!
Last but not least. The
decoration that said: “I want to Christmas party with
THESE crazy kids”
Have a great new year. Drop in
and see us sometime. Best leave the dog
at
home, though.
